FIK UNP Students Achieve Achievements at the 2026 PERTINA West Sumatra Amateur Boxing Championship, Realizing a Superior and Competitive Sports Generation

Akbar Aroya, a student from the Faculty of Sports Science at Padang State University (FIK UNP), won first place in the men's 57-kilogram category at the West Sumatra Amateur Boxing Championship (Kejurda) PERTINA Cup 2026. The event took place from May 1-4, 2026, at the West Sumatra KONI Martial Arts Center, H. Agus Salim Sports Complex, Padang.

The championship organized by the Provincial Administration of the Indonesian Amateur Boxing Association (PERTINA) West Sumatra is part of the effort to foster and develop amateur boxing in West Sumatra, as well as a platform for discovering potential athletes from the region.

Akbar Aroya's achievements demonstrate the concrete contribution of FIK UNP students in developing sports achievements while strengthening a healthy competitive culture among the younger generation. This success also proves that students not only develop academically but are also capable of showcasing quality and competitiveness in regional prestige sports.

The PERTINA Cup West Sumatra 2026 Amateur Boxing Championship was participated by athletes from various regencies and cities in West Sumatra and is part of athlete development towards higher-level competitions. The opening ceremony of the championship was officially held on Friday, May 1, 2026, and was attended by various government officials, sports organizations, and sports stakeholders in West Sumatra.

Dean of the Faculty of Sports Science at UNP, Prof. Dr. Nurul Ihsan, S.Pd., M.Pd., expressed appreciation for the achievements of FIK UNP students in the regional sports event.

"We are very proud of the achievements of Akbar Aroya at the 2026 West Sumatra PERTINA Amateur Boxing Championship. This achievement shows that FIK UNP students are not only excellent in academics but are also capable of excelling in competitive sports through the spirit of discipline, hard work, and sportsmanship," he said.

She also added that the achievement is expected to motivate other students to continue developing their potential, both academically and non-academically, so they can become a healthy, productive, and globally competitive youth generation.

These achievements of FIK UNP students are also in line with FIK UNP's vision to become a superior and dignified faculty in the fields of Physical Education, Coaching, and Sports Science that has national and international competitiveness. Coaching high-achieving sports through competition is considered important in supporting character development, health, and the quality of superior and sustainable human resources.

More broadly, the success of students in regional sports events reflects a commitment to the development of quality education, the nurturing of healthy and productive youth, and the strengthening of a sports culture as part of the sustainable development of Indonesian human resources.

Through these achievements, FIK UNP students reaffirm their spirit to continue excelling, to bring glory to the institution, and to make tangible contributions to the development of sports and the younger generation of Indonesia.
