Introduction to Campus Life for New FIK UNP Postgraduate Students: The First Step Toward Excellent Academic Achievement and Quality

Padang, August 31, 2024 - The Faculty of Sports Science (FIK) of Padang State University (UNP) warmly welcomed the arrival of new Postgraduate students in the Introduction of New Student Campus Life (PKKMB) event. This event is held specifically for students of the Master Program (S2) Sports Education, Master of Sports Science, and Doctoral Program (S3) Sports Science.

The event, which was held on Saturday, August 31, 2024, was officially opened by the Dean of FIK UNP, Prof. Dr. Nurul Ihsan, M.Pd., who gave an inspiring speech to the new students. In his speech, he emphasized the importance of adaptation and mental readiness in facing academic challenges at the postgraduate level. "Today is the beginning of an academic journey that will lead you to become experts and leaders in the field of sports. Take advantage of every opportunity to develop yourself and contribute to the world of sports," said Prof. Nurul Ihsan.

The PKKMB event was also attended by the Deputy Dean of FIK, the Coordinators of the Study Program, and lecturers of Postgraduate FIK UNP. Prof. Dr. Wilda Wilis, M.Kes., Coordinator of the Master of Sports Education Study Program, and Prof. Dr. Alnedral, M.Pd., Coordinator of the Master and S3 Sports Science Study Program, also provided motivation to new students, emphasizing the importance of academic integrity and research contributions in the development of sports science.

This year's PKKMB presented two main speakers who equipped new students with essential information related to academic regulations and technical lectures moderated by Dr. Ahmad Chaeroni, M.Pd. The first speaker, Abror, SE, M.E., Ph.D., as Academic Director of Padang State University, delivered material on Academic and Financial Regulations, providing guidance to students to understand the regulations that must be obeyed while studying at UNP. "Discipline in following academic and financial regulations will be the key to the smooth running of your studies," he said.

The second speaker, Mohamad Amin, S.Kom., M.Pd.T., from UNP's Data Services and Information Technology (LDTI) UPT, provided a technical explanation of the use of Portal and E-Learning applications in lectures. This material is very important considering that information technology is the backbone of the modern learning process, especially at the postgraduate level. Students are taught how to access and utilize digital platforms that will be used during their studies at UNP.

With an energetic atmosphere, PKKMB is the first step for new students to get to know more closely the academic environment and learning culture at FIK UNP. The event was also a means to strengthen relationships between students, lecturers and staff, creating a solid and collaborative academic community.

In closing, all PKKMB participants took a group photo, marking the start of their journey in obtaining a postgraduate degree and contributing to the advancement of sports science in Indonesia.
